HOLLYWOOD — A bright Thursday morning on Hollywood Boulevard brought a deeply emotional tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, whose star was unveiled on the Walk of Fame before a crowd of family, collaborators, and fans. Five years after his death, Boseman’s legacy was formally woven into Hollywood’s landscape with a ceremony that felt both reflective and triumphant.

Held at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard, the event drew heartfelt remarks from director Ryan Coogler, actress Viola Davis, and Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman. Davis, visibly moved, spoke of Boseman’s quiet power and the spiritual weight he carried into every room. Coogler recalled their years working together on Black Panther, describing Boseman as “an old soul” whose wisdom and humility grounded everyone around him.
The ceremony’s most poignant moment came when Ledward-Boseman placed a pair of her husband’s worn black dress shoes beside the newly revealed star — a simple, personal gesture that brought the audience to hushed stillness. “These shoes walked a long, beautiful road,” she said, honoring the man behind the performances.
Boseman’s career, though tragically short, left an indelible mark through roles like Jackie Robinson in 42, Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, James Brown in Get On Up, and, of course, King T’Challa in Black Panther. His work reshaped representation on screen and cemented him as one of the most influential actors of his generation.
As fans lingered after the ceremony — some wearing Wakandan attire, others laying flowers — Boseman’s star gleamed beneath the midday sun. In a city built on stories, his has already become legend. And now, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it has a home.
